LEBANON, Tenn. (WSMV) – Multiple minors could be facing charges after they were reportedly caught burglarizing cars in search of vape pens, according to the Lebanon Police Department (LPD).
LPD said officers recently responded to Westlynn Drive after a resident there called about a group of people in the neighborhood wearing dark clothing and pulling on car door handles.
On scene, officers found a group of people matching the description and began investigating.
Officers figured out that the entire group was made up of minors. They were reportedly targeting unlocked vehicles looking for vapes.
All of the minors were released to their parents or guardians. However, LPD said they could face charges pending the investigation’s outcome.
LPD is also using this incident as a chance to remind people to lock their vehicles.
“We appreciate the officers for a swift and diligent response, but this could have been avoided. PLEASE REMEMBER TO LOCK YOUR DOORS. Leaving electronics, firearms, vapes, or tobacco products in an unlocked vehicle makes you an easy target for theft,” LPD said.
