Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) saw deliveries in February fall further from the previous month, as weakness at the start of the year continued.

The beginning of each year is usually a slow period for the Chinese auto industry, especially the months where the New Year holiday falls. This year’s Chinese New Year holiday was from January 28 to February 4, and last year it was from February 10 to 17.

Li Auto is one of the major makers of extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) in China, and the models currently on sale are mainly L-series EREVs, including Li L6, Li L7, Li L8 and Li L9, all of which are SUVs (sport utility vehicles).

On March 1, 2024, the Li Mega MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) was launched, the first BEV from Li Auto. On the same day, the 2024 model of its L-series EREVs was rolled out.

Earlier this month, Li Auto announced that its first all-electric SUV was named Li i8 and shared several images without mentioning launch plans.

Yesterday, Li Auto’s vice president Liu Jie said the company’s L-series of models and the Li Mega won’t get 2025 model-year updates, but it will launch smart driving edition updates in May based on the existing models, focusing on upgrades to the smart driving hardware.

The updated models will have the same battery, electric drive, exterior and interior styling as the current models, he said.

As of February 28, Li Auto has 500 retail stores in China covering 150 cities.

It has 488 servicing centers and Li Auto-authorized body and paint shops covering 224 cities.

The company has 1,874 supercharging stations in operation in China with 10,008 superchargers.
