ZTE is one of the companies that brought its latest developments to MWC 2025 in Barcelona. The company launched the nubia Neo 3 series of affordable gaming smartphones for the mid-range segment. Plus, ZTE also announced a couple of 5G FWA solutions, as well as an MBB (mobile internet) device.
The company boasts that its new products are all AI-powered to improve connectivity performance. The firm worked together with Qualcomm, relying on the Dragonwing FWA Gen 3 tech that integrates the Snapdragon X75 5G modem. If you’re not aware, this is the same 5G modem present in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. The modem supports features like 5G-Advanced and Wi-Fi 7.
ZTE G5 Ultra and ZTE G5 Max Wi-Fi are the company’s new FWA products
Starting with the ZTE G5 Ultra, the company boasts that it is the “world’s first AI-powered 5G-Advanced flagship FWA.” It is capable of delivering downloads of up to 19 Gbps, which surpasses the already impressive speeds of up to 12.5 Gbps of Qualcomm’s Dragonwing FWA Gen 4 Elite platform. The product supports tri-band Wi-Fi 7 and integrates dual 2.5Gbps network ports. It has AI-powered voice control and QoS management features. AI algorithms can tweak network parameters to optimize performance.
Then there is the ZTE G5 Max Wi-Fi, the “world’s first 30 dBi Wi-Fi 7 mmWave FWA.” This particular model supports both Sub-6GHz and mmWave carrier aggregation. The result is download speeds of up to 10 Gbps. Its 30 dBi antenna promises to deliver a stable signal at a range of up to 6 km of outdoor coverage.
ZTE U60 Pro, a solution to set up a WiFi network anywhere
Lastly, the ZTE U60 Pro, an MBB solution that will let you set up a Wi-Fi network on the go. The firm claims that the product is the “world’s fastest Wi-Fi 7 5G Mobile Wi-Fi.” It can reach download speeds of up to 3.6 Gbps through its dual-band Wi-Fi 7 support. Its 10,000mAh battery will keep the lights on for up to 16 hours. It also supports fast charging and a power-sharing mode to charge other devices if you need to. The ZTE U60 Pro integrates NFC for quick Wi-Fi setup as well and has a touchscreen for easy control.
ZTE also boasted about its current position in the 5G market. The firm maintains its position as the world leader in 5G FWA and MBB for the fourth consecutive year. 2024 was a positive year for ZTE with a 38% year-on-year increase in global shipments.
