TCL’s China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT) subsidiary has introduced its next-generation display solutions for smartphones, tablets, and laptops at MWC 2025. The company has showcased a bunch of world’s first screen panels for different use cases. TCL CSOT’s new smartphone display technologies focus on efficiency, eye-protection screen, and more. TCL CSOT has launched its new screen solutions under the APEX branding.
World’s first lowest-driver low-power screen display
First up is TCL CSOT’s 6.36-inch display, optimized to deliver a great experience without excessively draining your phone’s battery. The screen panel uses the world’s lowest-power integrated circuit (IC), which helps reduce power consumption by up to 31 percent compared to its LTPO counterparts. The company’s latest multiple-frequency partition tech divides the screen into up to three sections, each supporting variable refresh rates.
First OLED screen with multiple-frequency partition technology
TCL CSOT showcased a 6.73-inch OLED display at MWC 2025, which supports the brand’s multiple-frequency partition technology. It allows the screen to support three partitions at the same time, which reduces its driver IC power consumption by up to 20 percent. Notably, this display has achieved a 96 percent screen-to-body ratio, which allows smartphones with slimmer bezels.
Furthermore, the OLED smartphone screen is ultra-bright with an APL (Average Picture Level) brightness of 3,200 nits, and features flicker-free 1,920Hz PWM dimming. TCL CSOT mentioned that Xiaomi’s recently launched 15 Pro flagship smartphone already utilizes this display panel.
A 2K display with a 120Hz refresh rate and circularly polarized light technology
Moving on to other announcements, TCL CSOT has introduced a 6.67-inch smartphone display with a WQHD or 2K or 1,440p resolution, which also features a high 120Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, this screen panel offers eye protection and circularly polarized light technologies. As per the brand, the polarization tech reduces glare, increases contrast, and enhances screen visibility under bright sunlight conditions. In addition, this screen panel also incorporates DC dimming technology, which reduces screen flickering and minimizes eye strain.
TCL CSOT’s new display panels for large tablets
TCL has also introduced a few new screens for large-sized tablets. The company has showcased what it claims to be the world’s first 13-inch 4K 144Hz display for tablet devices. Similar to the newly introduced phone screens, this tablet display also has a three-zone multiple-frequency partition tech that adjusts the refresh rate to optimize power consumption.
Furthermore, TCL CSOT has a 12.1-inch moth-eye biomimetic eye care tablet screen that incorporates anti-glare, anti-reflective, anti-fingerprint, and antimicrobial coatings. Lastly, the company has introduced a 14-inch 4K PureSight Pro OLED display, which is the world’s first laptop screen to utilize the Camera-Under-Panel (CUP) technology. Lenovo has already used this display tech on the Yoga Slim 9i laptop.
Some, if not all, OEMs are expected to offer the new TCL CSOT display technologies on their commercial smartphones or tablets in the future.
