Last October, MediaTek introduced its latest flagship SoC, the powerful Dimensity 9400. Based on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process, the SoC is up to 40% more efficient than its predecessor. Now, the chip tech giant is reportedly working on a slightly upgraded version of its flagship mobile chipset. Ahead of the official launch, a reliable tipster has suggested that the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ SoC is coming in the second quarter of the year.
MediaTek could launch a slightly upgraded version of the Dimensity 9400 SoC soon
According to the Digital Chat Station, a reliable Weibo leaker, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400+ processor is coming in April to take on the latest flagship SoC from its main rival, Qualcomm. Previously, the same tipster claimed that MediaTek would launch the Dimensity 9400+ SoC in March. However, now the leaker has updated the information and claims that MediaTek will unveil the new chip at an event on April 11th.
At the event, MediaTek will also announce when we can expect the first flagship phones powered by its new chipset to hit the market shelves. Unfortunately, DCS doesn’t know anything about those devices at the moment. As per earlier reports, the iQOO Neo 11 Pro could be one of the first phones to utilize the Dimensity 9400+ processor.
MediaTek wants to improve its top-of-the-line chip before the launch of Dimensity 9500
MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9500 processor is capable of going toe-to-toe with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite without any hiccups. Although it loses to the Qualcomm flagship SoC when it comes to CPU performance, the MediaTek processor makes up for it in GPU power. Now, MediaTek is working to improve its current top-of-the-line chip before launching its next-gen Dimensity 9500 flagship SoC.
According to reports, the Dimensity 9400+ chip will offer a maximum clock speed of 3.7GHz. This is slightly higher than the 3.62GHz on the current Dimensity 9400 SoC. Unfortunately, no other details regarding the upcoming MediaTek processor are available at the moment. We can expect the rumor mill to share more details on the matter soon, so stay in touch for regular updates.
