At this point, we’re all familiar with how Apple’s software looks. It’s a unified aesthetic that exists across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. However, according to a new report, that might change soon. Apple might give iOS, iPadOS, and macOS a massive visual overhaul. The inspiration for this is a pretty surprising one.
This shouldn’t really come as a surprise, as companies typically do this. They keep the same software aesthetic for a couple of years and then do a big overhaul. It’s the same thing with both iOS and Android. To be honest, both operating systems are overdue for a change.
Apple could overhaul iOS, iPadOS, and macOS
At this point, we don’t know much about what the company plans to do. We don’t have any information on how Apple plans to revamp its software. What we do know, however, is that it plans to unveil this during WWDC. This is the company’s software development conference that it holds each year. So, expect to see a long and drawn-out CGI video of the current aesthetic gradually changing into the new one with upbeat music playing in the background.
According to the report, Apple drew inspiration from a pretty surprising source. It was from its latest operating system, Vision OS. This is pretty surprising, as we all assumed that it was the opposite. Vision OS took some of its attributes from iOS, so it’s odd that something from that operating system is sparking change.
In any case, we won’t see these changes for quite some time. They’re set to arrive on iOS 19, iPad OS 19, and macOS 16. This is fitting, as the iPhone 17, which should come with iOS 19 out of the box, is set to be a huge departure from the iPhones we’ve seen over the past several years. So, 2025 might be the year that Apple redefines the identity of the iPhone in both hardware and software.
