This will instantly make Samsung's headset better than the Vision Pro

Considering how bad Samsung was with blocking Galaxy S25 leaks, the company has been good at keeping details about its XR headset quiet. Details on it are scarce, but we’ve been able to get a pretty interesting leak. Samsung’s XR headset could possibly get first-party controllers, instantly putting it over the Apple Vision Pro.

While the hand tracking on the Vision Pro is impressive, Apple dropped the ball by not offering controllers. You can only do so much with hand gestures, but a layout with multiple buttons and joystick can unlock more functionality. Apple knows that, as the company contacted Sony to make the PlayStation VR controllers compatible with it. At the time of writing this, we’re still waiting for that.

Samsung’s XR headset could have first-party controllers

Right now, we’re dealing with rumored information, so you’ll want to take this with a grain of salt. SamMobile was able to get a hold of some information about the headset, and the publication found a reference to what could be first-party controllers for the headset. They could have the model number ET-OI610. At this point, there’s no information about these controllers, so we’ll need to wait for an official announcement… or more leaks.

While we don’t know what these controllers will look like, we hope that they’ll be similar to what we get from the Meta Quest headsets. Meta was able to recreate a typical video game controller with the A, B, X, and Y buttons along with four shoulder buttons, a home menu button, and a pause button.

They work for all types of applications and games. If Samsung wants to make its headset a proper competitor to the Apple Vision Pro, it will need to be great on all fronts. A decent set of controllers is key to this.

There’s some worrying news

It’s good that Samsung is working on controllers for its headset, but here’s the thing that might ruin it. According to the report, it looks like Samsung won’t include them with the headset. If this is true, then it would be a pretty big oversight on the company’s part.

Let’s hope that Samsung will include the controllers. Meta includes controllers with its Quest headsets, and they are some of the most popular on the market.
