These days, many social media apps have started integrating some sort of AI features to boost user engagement. A few reports from last month hinted that Snapchat was developing its in-house AI text-to-image model. While the new model could be months away from the official launch, there’s some good news for all the Snapchat Platinum subscribers. Last week, Snapchat announced its new and advanced AI video lenses, featuring AI-generated animals or flowers for users on its premium subscription tier.
Snapchat’s Platinum subscribers can now use the new AI video lenses
Snapchat, in the announcement post, mentions that its in-house generative video model powers these new AI video lenses. The initial batch includes three AI video lenses. The first lens drops a virtual fox on your shoulder, while the other one fills the screen with moving raccoons.
The company adds that the third “Spring Flower” lens will generate a zoom-out effect of you holding a bouquet of blooming flowers in your Snap. It’s worth noting that Snapchat is planning to drop new AI video lenses every week to offer different options to users.
If you are a Snapchat Platinum subscriber, you can check them out within the Lens carousel. Next, you can select the AI-powered video lens of your liking. Finally, you should capture a Snap using the front or back camera of your device.
You don’t have to wait to send messages to your friends while the video generates
The best part is that you don’t have to stay on the screen; the system processes everything in the background. While the AI continues generating the video in the background, you can keep sending messages to your friends.
That’s not all; you can also create other content on the platform. Once the video is processed, it’ll be automatically saved to Memories. Moreover, you can share the AI-generated video with your friends or on your Snap Stories and Spotlight.
