Pixel 9a benchmarks shown a day ahead of launch

Summary: The Google Pixel 9a benchmarks have been shown a day before launch. The phone appeared on both Geekbench and AnTuTu, though it did score notably below expectations. It showed considerably lower results than the Pixel 9, despite the fact they use the same SoC. A pre-release software could be to blame, or perhaps inferior cooling, we’ll see.

The Google Pixel 9a appeared on benchmarks a day before its launch event. The phone will become official tomorrow, and while we wait for more information, let’s talk about benchmarks.

The Google Pixel 9a benchmarks reveal unexpected results

These benchmarks were shared by Sahil Karoul. The Google Pixel 9a, which is fueled by the Tensor G4 SoC, paid a visit to Geekbench. It managed to score 1,530 points in the single-core, and 3,344 points in the multi-core test.

It was also spotted on AnTuTu. Over there, the phone scored a total of 1,049,844 points, with a CPU score of 260,567 points and a GPU score of 434,441 points. That’s basically it, Geekbench and AnTuTu are the two benchmarking databases that the phone popped up in.

It offers better benchmark scores than the Galaxy A56, its close competitor, but it does fly a bit below the Google Pixel 9a. The Pixel 9, for example, averaged 1,925 points in the single-core and 5,674 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench.

It scored lower than the Pixel 9, there could be several reasons why that is

Now, that’s a notable difference, especially in terms of the multi-core score. So, what’s going on here? The same SoC will be used, or so it seems. Well, this could be pre-release software, plus the cooling system in the Pixel 9a could be different. We’re only guessing.

Still, the phone with the final software should be able to score a bit higher than this. It remains to be seen. As already mentioned, though, it did do better than the Galaxy A56, which is to be expected considering that the Galaxy A56 is fueled by the Exynos 1580.

That phone averaged 1,364 points in the single-core test, and 3,899 points in the multi-core test. Either way, we’ll be able to test it ourselves soon enough.

The device will launch tomorrow, March 19, while it will go on sale on March 26. We’ve exclusively revealed that information not long ago. Plenty of details surfaced regarding the Google Pixel 9a, even its review appeared on YouTube. So, there’s not much left to hide.
