Samsung is bringing its Log video mode over from the Galaxy S25 to its Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ smartphones.
The pro camera feature had already made its way to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra via the One UI 7 beta last month. Now, as noted by Sammy Fans, an update to that same beta software has added the Samsung Log feature to the rest of the Galaxy S24 series.
So what exactly is Samsung Log, and what is it going to do for Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ owners?
What is Samsung Log?
Samsung Log is a flatter colour profile for video capture, which serves to capture wider dynamic range and thus preserves more detail in the core footage.
Regular footage captured on your Galaxy S24 (or any other smartphone) will compress dynamic range in order to fit a specific video file format. Log keeps more of that raw information.
Samsung Log specifically uses a 10-bit HEVC codec to enable better compatibility and storage.
It also makes shooting with Log easier with a built in exposure monitoring feature, with a zebra pattern on the Camera UI showcasing where the exposure is getting out of hand.
False colour, meanwhile, marks up the entire scene with a colour-coded system: red for overexposed areas, purple for overexposed areas, and green for correct exposure.

Samsung Log isn’t for your casual video capture
Naturally, this means more work for you in the shooting phase, and also once your footage is taken.
You’ll need to bring the colour levels back up to the appropriate levels in the editing phase, after the footage has been taken.
Thankfully, all this can be done on your Samsung phone, right there in the Gallery apps. Samsung lets you convert log videos to a standard colour profile through Edit Suggestions, or you can adjust colours individually.
The benefits are potentially better looking videos and far greater creative control over how the finished product.
To try Samsung Log out on your Galaxy S24 handset, open the Samsung Members app, find a reference to the One UI 7 Beta Program, and tap through to Enrol.
