At Long Last, Samsung Makes One UI 7 Release Schedule Official

The whole saga with Samsung and One UI 7 has been a farce. There’s no other way to put it. It has been over half a year since Android 15’s source code was released, and while most Android OEMs were able to beat the 2025 deadline and get their phones running on the new OS before January, Samsung was nowhere to be seen.

As of now, besides the S25 lineup, the only Samsung phones with One UI 7 are those that were released after it. Even older flagships like the S24 have had to make do with betas. Finally, Samsung is about to get on track, as it has let us know when the stable version of One UI 7 will finally roll out, and that begins on April 7th.

Samsung Will Finally Launch One UI 7 on Its 2024 Flagships Next Month

I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, and every time there’s a new update for my phone, I install it as soon as possible. It’s one of those little things that gives me joy. It’s even better when that update is a major one. Needless to say, I’ve been craving One UI 7, which my device is eligible for, but Samsung has made us wait for ages. Finally, the South Korean manufacturer has opened up and let us know when One UI 7 will be arriving.

If you have any device in the Samsung Galaxy S24 family (potentially including the S24 FE) or the Galaxy Z Flip 6 or Z Fold 6, you’ll be first in line for the stable One UI 7 rollout. Samsung has made it clear that the new OS is going to start rolling out to those devices starting on April 7th. That’s about three weeks away, but considering how long Samsung fans have waited, that’s not too long to wait.

In the weeks after that, Samsung will expand its rollout to some of its other smartphone families, including the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and tablets such as the Tab S10 and the Tab S9 series. There should be many other devices eligible for the update, so I want to assume that Samsung’s list isn’t exhaustive.

One UI 7 Is Bringing a Lot of New Tricks to Your Old Samsung Device

In case you don’t know, One UI 7 will be the most drastic revision of the One UI platform in a very long time. That’s what makes it so heavily anticipated (and that’s what makes Samsung’s delay even more annoying).

The design for One UI 7 will be a lot different, with new icons, animations, widgets, customizations, and more. Most notably, your lock screen will bring the Now Bar, which will give you updates depending on which app you currently have running. Whether it is a the time on a timer or stopwatch, music that you have playing, or your progress during a run, the Now Bar will make it a lot easier to access.

Oh, and of course, there’s a lot of AI magic being built into the OS on a deeper level. You get features such as AI Select, Writing Assist, Drawing Assist, Audio Eraser, and even more in-depth Google Gemini integration.
