Oh, T-Mobile, how far you’ve fallen. The carrier recently raised the prices on some of its plans—despite promising not to do so—which made a lot of customers really angry. How did they not see this coming? It turns out that the backlash was more significant than the carrier had anticipated. So much so that T-Mobile decided to make a peace offering by giving some customers a free line. Maybe that’s not enough because, according to this post on Reddit, T-Mobile is running another free line offer.
A peace offering
T-Mobile’s previous offer wasn’t available to all customers, which naturally made some of the carrier’s customers really upset. How did T-Mobile decide who gets a free line and who doesn’t? This is why Redditor Kyo251 decided to reach out to T-Mobile’s customer support to find out why.
We’re not sure if it was because T-Mobile is just trying to appease its customers or maybe customers have to explicitly ask about the free line, but according to Kyo251, “I contacted T-Mobile because I haven’t seen the discount for the free line from the t-life app yet and while trying to talk to a rep this free line offer popped up.”
According to the AI agent they spoke to, this free line offer is available for customers using T-Mobile’s Go5G Plus and Go5G Next plans. Customers who add a new line will get $1,000 in bill credits. They apply this to their bill over the next 24 months.
Not without some limitations
However, there is a catch with this free line offer. According to other Redditors, customers cannot get discounted phones with this free line.
Also, after the 24 months are up, customers are on the hook for future bills. Honestly, it doesn’t really sound like a peace offering. If anything, it sounds like T-Mobile is simply signing up customers for a line and hoping they incur additional fees along the way. Or forget to cancel it after 24 months. Or hope they’ll stick around and keep paying.
However, if you do have a need for an extra line and don’t mind getting it for free for the next 24 months, this is a good offer. If you haven’t received a text message informing you of your eligibility, you can try what Kyo251 did and reach out to a customer rep and see if it activates for you.
