Apple has once again made a controversial move, enabling Apple Intelligence even for users who had previously turned it off. The latest iOS update automatically reactivates the feature without consent, making it clear that Apple wants you to use its AI whether you like it or not.
MacRumors reports that after updating to iOS 18.3.2 users are met with a splash screen for Apple Intelligence that offers no opt-out, only an option to ‘Continue’.
Though it’s simple to turn off Apple Intelligence (again), you really shouldn’t need to do so – and many users won’t even realise this setting has been changed with the latest update.
To turn off Apple Intelligence, open Settings, navigate to Apple Intelligence and Siri, then toggle off Apple Intelligence. Note that you’ll need to do this on all Apple devices that support Apple Intelligence (potentially your iPhone, your iPad and even your Mac).

Are we overreacting? Well, not really. For a start, Apple Intelligence consumes 7GB of memory, which is a problem for anyone with limited space on their devices. But perhaps more importantly, many users have concerns over AI and its use of their data, so this really shouldn’t be a decision that is made for them.
For now, those who do not wish to use Apple Intelligence will need to watch out for this sneaky trick each time they update.
