His unique take on magic clearly draws inspiration from the Final Fantasy series. Sanderson has openly credited the series for shaping his imaginative approach to magic systems. It’s an exciting reminder of how art in one medium can inspire innovation in another, and it invites curiosity about how these games continue to fuel his imagination.

“Just dumping a bunch of story at me isn’t enough. It has to be suited to the game play and the feel of the game. In that context, I’ve rarely encountered writing as good as Halo 2”, he wrote, game recognizes game, huh?
