Do you remember when everyone was obsessed with Pokémon Go? A company called Ninatic launched the game in 2016, which immediately became popular across the globe. However, the initial craze gradually decreased, and the game saw a massive drop in the user count. Well, just when you think Pokémon can’t get any more popular, the franchise comes up with a surprise. Now, Google has partnered with the franchise to bring a Pokémon-themed Easter egg minigame within Search.

The latest Google Search easter egg allows catching 151 original Pokémon

This time, the Google Search easter egg allows you to catch 151 Pokémon. So, how to catch them? First, you’ll need to search for a Pokémon’s name in the Google Search bar. Once searched, you can “catch” the named Pokémon by tapping the Poké Ball icon you see at the bottom right corner of the screen.

After the Pokémon is locked in the Poké Ball, it’ll become a member of your virtual Pokédex, which pops up automatically. If you want to save the progress and check the Pokémon you’re yet to catch, you’ll need to sign in to your Google account. The Google Search Easter egg involving Pokémon is currently only available on Android, iOS, and mobile web.

Notably, if you Google Search a Pokémon that you have yet to catch, you’ll see a silhouette of it. To guess their identity and catch them, you’ll need to play the “Who‘s that Pokémon?game. If you can’t identify them, you can look for hints by tapping the “start with a hint” button.

Master Balls let you catch legendary Pokémon

If the silhouette is for the Pokémon Raichu, you might see a clue that says it “evolves from Pikachu.” As soon as you catch and register the Pokémon you looked up in Google Search, you’ll unlock Master Balls automatically. This will enable you to catch legendary Pokémon, including Articuno, Mewtwo, Raikou, and so on. Not to forget, you’ll only win the game when you catch all the original 151 Pokémon.
