SHANGHAI/TOKYO — Toyota Motor, Nissan Motor and Honda Motor are partnering with Chinese technology companies to design smarter electric vehicles as evolving standards in the market make it difficult for them to compete on their own.
“To deliver cars that people want in China, we need Chinese brains and hands involved in development,” said Li Hui, general manager of Toyota China, at the ongoing Auto Shanghai trade show.
