Adobe's AI agents will soon help you with editing in Photoshop

Summary: Adobe has teased AI agents for Photoshop and Premiere Pro ahead of its Max event, scheduled on April 24th in London. These agents can suggest edits for photos or videos and automatically apply them. Creative users can also prompt the agents for additional changes, and in Premiere Pro, the agentic AI will be able to make rough video cuts.

Adobe has been constantly adding new AI features to its creative tools for quite some time. Last week, the company added a few new AI tools to Premiere Pro. Among all the new tools, one of the standouts was the Generative Extend. The feature can extend your video clips by up to two seconds using AI. Now, Adobe has teased a bunch of new AI features for Premiere Pro and Photoshop, which it will showcase at Adobe Max London, scheduled for April 24.

Adobe’s AI agent in Photoshop will help you do tedious tasks in a matter of seconds

Per Adobe’s blog post, all the new AI features will rely on creative agents (aka agentic AI). Notably, you can find the first creative agent in Photoshop in a floating “Action panel.” The agentic AI will analyze your photo and provide recommendations for smart, context-aware edits. For example, it can suggest removing people from the background, making adjustments to brightness, and more.

Once you click on the suggestions, the AI agent will automatically process everything in Adobe Photoshop. Not to forget, Adobe already announced an AI feature last year called “Distraction Removal.” This one allows you to extend and fill photos or delete unwanted objects or people from the background. While it’s already handy, agentic AI in Photoshop will take things one notch up by ensuring faster and higher-quality edits.

Adobe further notes that Photoshop users will be able to prompt AI agents with natural language. While the AI agent can do everything automatically, this ensures that users learn the steps required to perform a task. As seen in the images below, you can ask the AI agent in Photoshop to make more changes to your photos.

AI can also assist you in Premiere Pro

Besides teasing AI agents in Photoshop, Adobe says that a future agent in Premiere Pro will be able to make a rough video cut. It will be built on top of the new Media Intelligence feature that the company announced last week. The agentic AI in Premiere Pro will help editors refine their video footage, adjust color, mix audio, and much more.

In the blog post, CTO of Adobe’s Digital Media business, Ely Greenfield, notes, “While AI can’t replace human creative inspiration, with your input it can make some educated guesses to help you get your project off the ground. It can also help you learn how to perform complex tasks with a few simple keystrokes, helping you grow as an editor.”
