Samsung’s 990 Pro SSD is easily one of the best SSDs for gaming, and right now, you can score the 4TB model in an awesome deal over at Amazon. Normally, the 4TB Samsung 990 Pro retails for $464.99, but Amazon currently has it on sale for just $279.99. That’s a discount of 40%, which saves you a whopping $185.
Although Samsung now has its 9100 Pro SSDs out, the 4TB version of that newer SSD retails for $549.99. That’s a lot for an SSD and in all honesty, the 990 Pro is a better value because it’s still an incredibly fast SSD. I’ve used this exact SSD in both my PS5 and my PC, and it runs great on games. It not only makes downloading and installing games faster, but it also makes loading times shorter.
And in some cases, it might impact the frame rate of games like Assassin’s Creed Shadows. For example, I initially had AC Shadows installed on an external drive. Upon booting the game for the first time, it literally told me that having it installed on an external HDD as opposed to the internal SSD could negatively affect the load times and the frame rate. I’m not saying it will impact the frame rate by a huge amount, but it does have an impact.
