AI-powered features take the Roborock Saros Z70 from a robot cleaner to a robot helper

Robot vacuums have evolved exponentially in just a few years, progressing from relatively low-powered models that simply rolled around and “found” their way, to powerful vacuum and mop combos that build intelligent paths and also clean themselves, for true hands-free use. So what’s the next step in this evolution? Fixing the one thing a robot vacuum couldn’t do yet – move stuff out of the way.

That’s where the Roborock’s latest comes in. The Saros Z70 is the first mass-produced robotic vacuum with a foldable five-axis mechanical arm that can move obstacles out of the way and clean areas that would otherwise be blocked. With high-level autonomous operations powered by Roborock’s Agentic AI, the Saros Z70 has plenty to offer. Here’s everything you need to know.

Roborock’s Agentic AI and Omnigrip mechanical arm bring the AI robot future to the present

While innovative, the big selling point of the Roborock Saros Z70 isn’t just the fact that it has a mechanical arm, but how the robot vacuum uses it. The first use case is also the most obvious – moving things out of the way.

While many robot vacuums come with excellent obstacle avoidance, that does leave areas unclean. Even something small, like a sock in the way, can be a problem, as the vacuum likely leaves a large section untouched while navigating to avoid it. This is one of the most significant pain points that the Saros Z70 fixes with its Omnigrip mechanical arm.

You can finally say goodbye to the pre-cleaning “cleaning” ritual where you run around picking things up and putting them away so nothing interferes with the robot. Now, the Z70 can identify and move objects and obstacles out of the way, providing a more thorough, comprehensive clean on its own than any competing robot vacuum.

The robotic arm with five-axis movement can deploy itself to clean previously obstructed areas and store small items, such as socks, small towels, tissue paper, sandals, and objects weighing under 300g. It comes with a camera, LED light, and sensors to determine the position, surroundings, and the weight of the objects it grips. You can also control the mechanical arm manually through the Roborock app.

But Roborock believes that, with time, the Omnigrip mechanical arm can do so much more, going from just a robotic cleaner to a robotic helper. The first part of that is smart obstacle recognition. Apart from its built-in and continuously evolving object recognition, you can also set up to 50 customizable obstacles. Anything the Saros Z70 can pick up with its Omnigrip mechanical arm, it can then move out of the way, or even better, help keep them organized.

That’s the next step in Roborock’s Agentic AI plans – smart organization. Apart from simply moving things out of the way, which basically just shifts the clutter, the Saros Z70 will help you clean and organize a room.

Socks on the floor? It’ll move them towards a closet or laundry basket. Sandals lying around? It will place them on an entrance rug. Crumpled and discarded tissues? They go right in the trash can. As the Saros Z70 continues to grow and learn, it’ll be a huge help in identifying and moving everyday household items to their designated spots.

And finally, like any good robot vacuum AI, Roborock’s Agentic AI will continuously learn and improve its smart cleaning capabilities. This includes learning user habits and adjusting suction, mopping, and route creation for optimal results. Speaking of route creation, the Saros Z70 can adapt in real-time to layout changes or things like new furniture and automatically build optimal routes to navigate unique home layouts and item placements.

We are still a while away from the “one humanoid robot cleaner per household” future that many tech companies promise at trade shows and in plenty of sci-fi movies. But products like the Saros Z70 are the first step towards this future. It’s easy to dismiss a mechanical arm that pokes out of your robot vacuum as a gimmick.

But with time and continuous learning, Roborock’s Agentic AI can help bring a compelling level of autonomous operation that can be game-changing. There’s admittedly still a long way to go, but the Roborock Saros Z70 is the first essential step on this journey.

Of course, the Roborock Saros Z70 is also an excellent robot vacuum

All the innovative physical and AI tech won’t make a difference if the robot vacuum doesn’t do its job well. That’s luckily not a concern with the Roborock Saros Z70, which is one of the most powerful robot vacuums you can get, even if you leave out its unique features like the Omnigrip mechanical arm and Agentic AI.

The Saros Z70 features a whopping 22,000 Pa suction power, more than enough to handle any dust and debris, and boasts a 100% hair removal rate from carpeted areas. If that’s giving you flashbacks to tangled side and main brushes, endless brush maintenance, and stuck robots, there’s nothing to worry about here.

The Z70’s FreeFlow main brush avoids tangling with ease, while the side brush’s design, which includes longer bristles, curved spiral arms, and a soft rubber baffle, guarantees 0% hair tangling as well.

It can also detect different surfaces and automatically lift the mop and various brushes depending on the cleaning mode, so you don’t have to interrupt the cleaning cycle to manually remove or add anything. For example, the Z70 will lift the main and side brushes in mop-only mode or lift the mop when vacuuming carpets.

Also innovative is the Saros Z70’s industry-first adaptilift chassis. As the name suggests, this feature allows the robot to lift its chassis to cross thresholds and avoid getting stuck, or to help navigate mid- to high-pile carpets, preventing the suction port from becoming blocked. It’s also one of the slimmest robot vacuums around, with a height of just under 8cm, making it perfect for cleaning areas under furniture and dressing tables that other robots can’t reach easily.

And finally, there’s the Multi-functional Dock 4.0. Its highlights include 80°C hot water mop washing, 2.5-hour fast charging, and the ability to automatically remove the mop if you set the cleaning cycle to the vacuum-only mode.

If you’re looking to future-proof your home cleaning needs with a powerful robot cleaner that, over time and with learning, will become an equally capable robot helper, courtesy of Agentic AI and the innovative Omnigrip mechanical arm. It’s an excellent robot vacuum that’s the first step towards a true hands-free experience, but it’s worth getting for its cleaning capabilities alone.

For a limited time, you can enjoy a massive $600 off the Saros Z70, bringing its price down to just under $2000, from May 12 to May 18.
