Alabama awards $21.6 million to enhance non-motorized travel routes in 31 cities – Alabama's News Leader

On Friday, Governor Kay Ivey and The Alabama Department of Transportation announced that $21.6 million will be awarded for Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) projects across the state.

The Transportation Alternatives Program is a federally-funded program that funds on-road and off-road improvements for non-motorized forms of transportation such as walking and bicycle pathways.

“For a growing number of Alabamians who walk or use bicycles for health and recreation or to travel to work or school, the safety of their travel routes is an important concern,” Gov. Ivey said.

There are 31 cities in the state of Alabama that will be receiving TAP funding.
