Driver had signs of intoxication, police said.
HOUSTON – A Houston police officer was recovering after investigators said a wrong-way driver hit his patrol car in Midtown.
Investigators said the officer was stopped on Smith Street and Tuam Street at about 1 a.m. Saturday.
Police said a driver was going the wrong way on Smith Street and crashed into the front of the police officer’s unit and another car.
Investigators said the driver kept going and eventually crashed into a third car.
They said after the crash, the driver showed signs of intoxication.
The police officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and is expected to recover.
“The officer has minor injuries from the incident, nothing major, but he was transported because he was shaken up. It was a hard hit,” said Sgt. Ramirez.
No one else was hurt.
It was unclear what charges the driver will face.
