Generative AI is becoming more and more present in our daily lives. Many of your favorite services and even devices already integrate artificial intelligence-based options and features. Developers have also found AI very useful for generating summaries. With that in mind, Prime Video is getting the AI-powered X-Ray Recaps feature.
In a blog post, Amazon claims that X-Ray Recaps is able to “create text summaries of “full seasons of TV shows, single episodes, and even pieces of episodes,” all thanks to the power of AI. This is quite useful for multiple cases, such as when you want to catch up on a show from a long time ago and can’t remember what was happening.
AI X-Ray Recaps will save you time to catch up on Prime Video’s shows
You can use the new Prime Video AI recap feature to get a summary of the events of the last season of a show. It also works if you want to remember what happened in a specific episode. This means you no longer have to spend hours catching up on the show you want to continue. Many people often avoid returning to a show they’ve dropped because they need to rewatch previous seasons to understand what’s coming next.
Plus, as Amazon says, the feature also works on “pieces of episodes, all personalized down to the exact minute of where you’re watching.” So, in theory, you could use X-Ray Recaps to get a summary of what happened at a specific point in an episode. This is useful if you feel like you need additional explanation or context about what’s happening. It can also offer you a summary of an episode you started but left off, right up to the point where you left.
According to Amazon, the new AI recap feature “analyzes various video segments, combined with subtitles or dialogue, to generate detailed descriptions of key events, places, times, and conversations.” Plus, it is designed to not give you spoilers about what’s coming up. Therefore, you need not worry about the AI revealing future events to you.
Available in beta in the United States
Currently, Prime Video’s X-Ray Recaps are available in beta for US users of Fire TV devices. It’s noteworthy that, in its current state, X-Ray Recaps don’t work for all shows. Amazon claims that you can activate X-Ray Recaps for its catalog of original series from MGM Studios. This includes highly acclaimed shows such as The Boys.
