I was on the roadways of Atlantic County, New Jersey at 3:00 a.m. this morning. The roads are understanding in terrible condition at this time of day.
This is the second consecutive snowstorm that the rare condition of the southern most areas getting more snow than northern or western areas has occurred.
It took me about 20 minutes to clear all snow off of my car.
Remember, in New Jersey … this is not a courtesy to others … it’s the law.
To be road legal, you are required to remove all snow from your car, including the entire roof top.
Failure to do so, can land you a $ 1,000 fine, along with associated other tickets.
In days gone by, people would venture out with massive amounts of snow on their cars. It would blow off and potentially “blind” other motorists traveling nearby.
It was a very dangerous situation in those days.
If you don’t haven’t go out today, just stay home.
I want to thank Mayor Charles Cain, the long-time owner of The Auto Plaza at English Creek.
More than 20 years ago, Mayor Cain recommended to me that I should drive a Mercedes E350 4Matic.
I have driven 3 of them ever since. Never once have I lost positive traction or failed to get into work.
Today was no exception. The roads were terrible at 3:00 a.m., yet I was able to push through it with no problems whatsoever.
If you are going to venture out this morning or later today, leave yourself an extra half hour to brush all snow from your car.
Before sunrise today and tonight, remember to brush the snow from all headlights, rear lights so that you can properly see and be seen.
Here are a few photos from my driveway this morning at about 2:30 a.m.
In Scullville, Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, we have more than 6 inches of snow.
The photos below will give you an idea of what you will confront.

After brushing and shoveling an extensive amount of snow… You will no doubt work up your appetite.
