After an extended wait, Android 15 is out in the wild, and Google has already released some meaningful. Those of us brave enough to use the beta version noticed a pretty annoying issue with Android 15 QPR Beta 1. It dealt with the lock screen widgets, but Android 15 QPR Beta 2 might fix it.
In these early stages of Android 15, we’re seeing several new features and additions to the software that make the experience better. For starters, the first QPR brought bypass charging to the Pixel 9 phones. This means that, when you’re using the phone while plugged in, it won’t charge the battery. The electrical current will skip the battery and power the phone itself. This feature will help your battery last longer.
Android 15 QPR beta 2 will fix the lock screen widgets
The first Android 15 QPR Beta brought back a feature that we’ve missed for years. For some reason, Google sought fit to remove lock screen widgets. Well, soon after Apple unleashed its lock screen widgets for iPhones, Google remembered their utility.
The version we got with the first QPR beta lacked one basic feature, the ability to resize the lock screen widgets. Well, Android engineer Mishaal Rahman discovered code in the Android 15 QPR Beta 2 that points to this feature making a comeback. Users won’t see this feature just yet, but Rahman was able to enable it.
It’s pretty straightforward. If you’re using a Pixel Tablet, you’ll be able to adjust the size of the widgets you put on the lock screen just like on the home screen. There’s a video on Android Authority showing this feature in action. However, we can see that it’s a little rough at the moment. So, we know that Google is still working on it.
At this point, we don’t know when Google will officially release this feature to the public. Since it’s not technically on the beta version of the software, we know that there will be quite the wait. Google could possibly release the update in a subsequent QPR.
