Android 15 starts rolling out to ‘enrolled’ Motorola phones

Motorola has started sending out the Android 15 OS update. The latest update will head to those who have registered to get the update.

Motorola smartphones start getting the October security patch with a surprise upgrade

Google released Android 15 to AOSP (Android Open-Source Project) last month. Many Android smartphone makers then started announcing their Android 15 update rollout plans.

Samsung and Nothing were quick to reveal their plans for their custom skin based on the latest Android operating system. However, Motorola quietly revealed the list of its smartphones getting the Android 15 update.

Incidentally, the stable version of Android 15 is rolling out to Google Pixel smartphones. It appears Motorola could be the first company after Google to offer Android 15.

A select few Motorola smartphones have been getting the October 2024 security patch. While this itself is commendable, Motorola has included the Android 15 OS upgrade with the patch. So far, only a few Motorola smartphones have received the update, predominately in India. Some Motorola phone users have posted screenshots showing the Android 15 update landing on their devices.

Will all eligible Motorola smartphones get Android 15?

Based on the social media posts, it appears Motorola is ready with the Android 15 upgrade for several devices. However, the company is taking a cautious approach to the rollout.

It appears only those who enrolled for the Android 15 beta registration program, will get the update first. Motorola opened registrations for this program in September through a community forum. What this means is that Motorola could delay the release of the stable version of Android 15 to its devices. Nevertheless, the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion is among the first non-Pixel devices to get the latest Android OS.

The notification for the update highlights the multiple features Android 15 will offer. The changelog mentions that the Android 15 release will, “make the experience smarter, faster, and more secure”. The update is about 1.9GB in size and bears the version number V1UUI35H.6.
