Apple AirPods remain for many the quintessential earbuds, their shiny white design perhaps earning the overused word iconic. The latest fourth-generation model has just had its price heavily cut again. Here are all the details.

In March’s Big Spring Sale, Amazon cut the price of Apple AirPods heavily. Among the offers was one for AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation, which saw the price drop from the regular $179 sticker to $149.99.
Now, Amazon has re-introduced the cut, actually taking the price down to $148.99, a 17% drop that means a $30.01 discount. Here’s the link.
AirPods 4 have an all-new design but are still instantly recognizable as Apple’s earbuds with the gloss white finish broken up only by carefully placed black vents and microphones, for instance.
The noise-cancelling on board, though no match for the mighty AirPods Pro 2, is persuasive. There are other features such as Transparency mode so you can hear the outside world without removing the buds, and personalized Spatial Audio.
These earbuds also come with a case capable of wireless charging as well as a USB-C charging socket (some earlier AirPods used Lightning), which may mean one fewer cable in your travel bag.
There’s also a more affordable version of AirPods 4, also reduced in price, but it’s not such a steep discount. Apple AirPods 4 (without Active Noise Cancellation) are usually priced at $129. Right now, they’re down by 9%, that’s $12 off, at $117 (available at the same link, above). That’s not bad but it’s no match for the Big Spring Sale pricing.
What’s happening to other AirPods, you may wonder?
Glad you asked. There’s a $50 discount on AirPods Pro 2, taking the regular $249 sticker down to $199 — you’ll find them here. That’s a decent, 20% price cut and definitely worth having, but earlier this year, Amazon had them for $169.99. Still, this is good for now.
Finally, AirPods Max are available with not much discount. The regular price is $549 but Amazon has the midnight color for $539, starlight for $535 and the others for $529 or $529.99. Price drops of between $10 and $20, then. You’ll find them here.
AirPods Max have just added the capability to play Apple Music in lossless quality. Who knows? — perhaps this upgrade, which arrived with the release of iOS 18.4, has pepped up their popularity.
