The pricing aspect of various Macs improved significantly compared to Apple’s previous launches, with the newly announced M4 MacBook Air lineup starting from just $999, making these machines highly attractive, not only because they sport superior hardware but also because they cost less than their immediate predecessors. These series of decisions will likely bear fruit for the company, with retail sources stating that the newly launched hardware, which includes the Sky Blue version of the M4 MacBook Air, will sell in droves.
The premium earned on RAM and storage upgrades is still present, but the M4 MacBook Air exudes a better ‘price to performance’
The exact sales momentum was not provided by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, but based on the information given to him by his retail sources, Apple is expected to rake in a decent chunk of revenue with its fresh releases. To recap, in addition to launching the refreshed versions of the 13-inch and 15-inch M4 MacBook Air family, the Cupertino firm had also announced the M3 iPad Air series, which looks identical to the M2 models but now ships with a chipset upgrade.
Additionally, Apple caters to creative professionals who require more horsepower with the Mac Studio release, which can be configured up to an M3 Ultra. One reason why the Sky Blue version of the M4 MacBook Air could ship in higher volume is because it is a new finish compared to older colors. A new paint job can massively contribute to higher sales, but we also feel that the improvements in the pricing and the specifications have more to do with customers making these portable Macs their daily drivers.
For instance, the M4 running in the latest models performs identically to the Apple Silicon present in the more expensive MacBook Pro lineup, and that too, at a $999 starting price. The company has also introduced 16GB of unified RAM as standard, phasing out the 8GB memory variants due to their limited capabilities. Sadly, the base storage remains locked at 256GB, but we are confident that Apple will up that number with successive releases.
Thoughts on Apple’s new iPads, MacBook Air, Mac Studio and M3 Ultra. Retail sources say Apple is expecting significant demand based on strong unit numbers being delivered ahead of launch. The Sky Blue MacBook Air, in particularly is expected to be hot. https://t.co/Ql3ZlpM0Uc

For now, if you want to make the Sky Blue version of the M4 MacBook Air your daily driver, you can pre-order one from Amazon, with expected delivery happening on March 12. Unfortunately, if you want to purchase the 512GB version, you will be charged an additional $200.
