Apple is really struggling with AI, and this page update confirms

Apple did a great job of raising our hopes when it announced Apple Intelligence. It showed us an impressive set of agentic and productive AI tools that would revolutionize the iPhone experience…. and we’re still waiting on them. Well, it seems that Apple walked back a claim about an AI feature, delaying it.

Right now, Apple is still playing catch-up in the AI market. While no smartphone AI platform is shifting any paradigms, Apple’s implementation thus far is far below the standard. The company advertised some powerful features, but we don’t know when they’re all going to launch.

Apple walked back a claim about an iPhone 16 feature

The best way to hear all about how great iPhones are is to look at the Apple website. Apple isn’t shy about telling you how much its devices will improve your life. On the page advertising the iPhone 16, there’s a section that advertises the new agentic Siri. “With all-new superpowers, Siri can assist you like never before. Awareness of your personal context enables Siri to help you in ways that are unique to you.”

The new Siri is probably the most anticipated part of Apple Intelligence. However, in that section, Apple added an update telling people that these new features “are in development and will be available with a future software update.” To the average viewer, this wouldn’t look like much, but word has it that we won’t see this new Siri until some time in 2026. That’s a pretty tough pill to swallow.

Platforms like Galaxy AI and Gemini are starting to mature with more features coming out every couple of months. That’s not to mention the AI platforms from other companies on the Android landscape. In 2026, Apple will be delivering on AI features it announced in 2024. There’s no telling if people will even be excited about the features then.

However, we’re sure that most of the people won’t really mind. At the moment, it doesn’t seem like most users really care about AI features for their phones.
