It’s been over a year since the launch of the Apple Vision Pro, and it hasn’t exactly been a roaring success.
Sure, it’s packed with impressive tech, but with a sky-high price and bulky design, it was never going to be the revolutionary product Apple wanted. Now, Apple is trying to breathe new life into it with Apple Intelligence, but I’m not convinced it’s enough.
Apple’s AI suite brings features like ChatGPT integration, Smart Replies, and Genmoji. The headset is even getting an exclusive Create a Memory Movie feature, which creates personalised video montages from user photos and videos. It’s neat, but hardly a game-changer.

However, the issue was never a lack of AI features but the Vision Pro itself. AI won’t make it lighter, more comfortable, or, crucially, more affordable. At £3,499/$3,500, it remains a luxury gadget.
Battery life is another persistent issue, with just two hours of use before needing to plug in the external battery pack. And let’s not forget the inconvenience of carrying that battery in your pocket.
Even with AI, the Vision Pro struggles to fit naturally into everyday life. It’s great for watching immersive content, but work or communication? Not so much.
The clunky app management and isolating nature of the headset mean it doesn’t replace existing devices but only adds another expensive screen to juggle.

Apple
That’s why the idea of Apple’s smart glasses was so much more exciting to me.
A lightweight, AR-based alternative could provide real-time information without shutting you off from the world. But Apple has reportedly shelved that project, leaving us stuck with the Vision Pro.
There’s no doubt that Apple Intelligence will improve the experience, but it won’t fix the fundamental issues of price, design, and practicality. No amount of AI can change that.
