Apple now boasts 2.35 billion active users worldwide

Apple is one of the biggest tech companies in the world. You know what, scratch that. Apple IS the biggest company in the world, and it looks like it has gotten bigger. During the company’s recent earnings call, Apple revealed that it now boasts a staggering 2.35 billion active users worldwide.

Best quarter ever

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook says this is the company’s best quarter ever. Cook claims that Apple Intelligence played a key role in its results. “Today Apple is reporting our best quarter ever, with revenue of $124.3 billion, up 4 percent from a year ago. We were thrilled to bring customers our best-ever lineup of products and services during the holiday season. Through the power of Apple silicon, we’re unlocking new possibilities for our users with Apple Intelligence, which makes apps and experiences even better and more personal. And we’re excited that Apple Intelligence will be available in even more languages this April.”

The total number of active users is an increase of more than 150 million from the 2.2 billion active users the company reported in 2024. Before that, the last time Apple shared its active user count was in early 2022.

Unfortunately, Apple did not share a detailed breakdown of these numbers. So it is unclear out of these 2.35 billion active Apple users, how many are iPhone users, Mac users, or iPad users.

While Cook claims that Apple Intelligence was the driving force behind its latest results, the numbers don’t seem to suggest that. The sales of iPhones declined by 1% on a yearly basis.

Apple’s future

It is clear that AI is going to play a huge role in Apple’s future. However, the company isn’t off to a great start. The company has been quite slow in releasing Apple Intelligence features. So far, the current AI features offered in the iPhone 16 series are quite basic. These are things that other AI models could already do minus all the fanfare and hype. A recent report suggests that iPhone users may have to wait until 2026 for the complete rollout of all the Apple Intelligence features.

Apple is also reportedly looking into other areas. Many of you are aware of Apple’s interest in XR (Extended Reality), especially with the launch of the Vision Pro. Recent reports claim that Apple is working on a lighter pair of smart glasses, one that could potentially replace the iPhone as a communications device.

For the immediate future, Apple is reportedly planning on launching the new iPhone SE 4 and new iPad models in the coming months. The company is also expected to introduce its new iPhone 17 lineup towards the latter part of the year.
