If you are an iPhone 14 Pro user who has been having camera issues, you might be due a pleasant surprise courtesy of Apple.
In a recent service update, Apple confirmed that the rear cameras on “a very small percentage” of iPhone 14 Plus devices may lack a functional preview feature.
However, it didn’t give much detail about what was the unlying technical problem behind the issue.
The good news is that Apple is offering to provide servicing, free of charge, to users with faulty phones via its Apple Stores, Apple Authorized Service Providers, or its mail-in service.
Users can head here, and enter their phone’s serial number, to see if their device is eligible for the program. Apple said that all the impacted devices were manufactured between April 10, 2023, to April 28, 2024.
If you’ve already forked out to get your iPhone 14 Pro repaired, and this issue may have impacted you, you can also contact Apple about getting a refund.
Unfortunately, Apple does reserve the right to restrict or limit repair to the original country or region of purchase.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Apple swoop in and promise to repair faulty products, in fact, it’s been a fairly common occurrence over the past few years.
Back in October 2021, Apple offered free repair to users who had experienced sound issues, as well as noise cancellation issues, with their AirPod Pros made before October 2020, including some from the late 2019 launch.
In December 2020, Apple kicked off a support program that offered to replace the device of small minority of users who had been struggling with non-responsive screens.
All smartphone repairs carry a degree of risk. As standard, Apple advises users to take basic precautions before sending their devices off for repair, including backing their data up on the cloud before sending it off for repair, to ensure that their data is safe.
