Apple One might finally get a brand new service later this year – 9to5Mac

Apple One launched over five years ago, and while it did recently gain new features, there’s never yet been a brand new service added. But it sounds like that might change later this year.

AI health coaching service in the works at Apple

For years, Mark Gurman has been writing about a brand new paid service Apple has been working on.

He’s called it a ‘wellness and coaching’ service. This past weekend Gurman referred to it as ‘an AI-based coaching service’ that’s meant to bolster Apple’s huge health ambitions.

This new service will, per Gurman’s prior reporting:

  • be its own app
  • carry a monthly fee
  • and “keep users motivated to exercise, improve eating habits and help them sleep better”
Apple Healthcare

He elaborates:

The idea is to use AI and data from an Apple Watch to make suggestions and create coaching programs tailored to specific users

And in another report, Gurman writes:

Early considerations for the virtual health and fitness coach include the ability to generate eating, sleeping and exercise recommendations from data collected from Apple devices…There are concepts, too, for tapping into device cameras to track and correct users’ form while they’re exercising, similar to a feature offered on Peloton Interactive Inc.’s TV-connected workout device.

In other words, where Apple Fitness+ focuses on providing exercise content, this new AI-driven service will have a more holistic approach. It will analyze your health data and offer intelligent suggestions for how to live a healthier life.

Call it Apple Coach, Apple Wellness, or something along those lines. Normally I’d bet on Apple Health+ except Gurman says it will be a standalone app, so that doesn’t make as much sense.

Apple One would benefit from expanded service lineup

Apple Services

Gurman doesn’t specifically address whether this new service will be included in Apple One, but there’s little doubt that it will—like every other paid Apple service.

Apple One Premier currently includes six services:

  • iCloud+
  • Apple TV+
  • Apple Music
  • Apple Arcade
  • Apple Fitness+
  • and Apple News+

The appeal of Premier over Apple’s more affordable plans is currently limited to a couple exclusive benefits:

  • Fitness+ and News+ are included in Premier
  • and iCloud+ includes 2TB of storage rather than 50GB (Individual) or 200GB (Family)

Adding a service like ‘Apple Coach’ could draw even more users into the higher Apple One tier.

It could also motivate more Apple One signups overall, as the bundle would not only provide great entertainment offerings, but critical health-enhancing features too.

Signs point to 2025 launch

Gurman’s latest mention of the AI coaching service came in his overview of Apple’s 2025 plans.

The context of the reference is a little fuzzy as to whether the service will debut this year, or if that’s still unknown.

But there’s plenty of reason to believe 2025 is the right time.

Apple just launched its first AI features in iOS 18, and is undoubtedly preparing another big Apple Intelligence push in iOS 19.

The company is reportedly also ‘planning a revamped Health app,’ and expects to ship several products this fall with new health features:

All of Apple’s new health features, and expanded data its devices can collect, should be a perfect fit for an Apple Coach launch in the fall—both as a standalone paid service and as part of Apple One.

Apple One’s new service: Wrap-up

Apple’s services business has steadily grown every year, despite not much changing about the company’s Apple One offerings. I’m eager to see not only what Apple could have in store with this ‘Apple Coach’ service, but also potential other additions to the Apple One bundle in the future.
