Following the release of iOS 18.4, macOS 15.4, and other updates to the public, Apple has started up a new round of developer betas for iOS 18.5, iPadOS 18.5, macOS 15.5, tvOS 18.5, watchOS 11.5, and visionOS 2.5.

On March 31, Apple released its updates for iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, macOS 15.4, tvOS 18.4, and visionOS 2.4. A day later, it re-released watchOS 11.4 Following those releases, Apple has moved on to the next update, with a new set of builds for the follow-up releases.

The first iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.4 developer betas share build number 22F5042g, with macOS Sequoia 15.5 using build number 24F5042g. The first tvOS 18.5 build is 22L5542f, the first watchOS 11.5 build is 22T5542f, and the first visionOS 2.5 build is 22O5442g.

At this stage, the contents of the builds are largely unknown, but details of new and updated features will soon surface as developers thoroughly check the build. What is likely is that Apple will introduce more changes to Apple Intelligence, as its slow rollout continues.

For its release, iOS 18.4 increased its localization support with eight new languages, a new Sketch style in Image Playground, and an expansion of Visual Intelligence to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. There was also a new Apple Vision Pro app, changes to Shortcuts and CarPlay, and a few new emoji.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly recommend that users do not install beta operating systems or other software being tested onto “mission-critical” or primary hardware, due to the ever-present danger of bugs and issues that could result in the loss of data. As always, testers should use secondary or non-essential devices and ensure they have sufficient backups of any critical data.
