Apple shows off Apple Intelligence capabilities in short videos

Apple Intelligence is one of the foundations for Apple’s future devices. The company was late to the AI segment dominated by names like OpenAI and Google, so several of the expected advanced features will take a while to arrive. However, there are a set of key functions that are available starting with the iOS 18.1 update (except in Europe). Apple has released a series of short videos showing some of the things you can do on the iPhone 16 series with Apple Intelligence.

The Cupertino giant hired Bella Ramsey, best known for her roles as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones and Ellie in the TV adaptation of The Last of Us, to star in the videos. The company is highlighting the generative capabilities of Apple Intelligence in apps like Mail, Photos, and Siri. Recently, Apple also recapped the most important announcements of its latest launch event in short videos.

These videos show how you can use Apple Intelligence on your iPhone 16 series

The first ad demonstrates Apple Intelligence’s ability to generate photo memories with just a prompt. You can specify which kinds of photos you want it to use for the memories, as well as set the “mood” of the background soundtrack.

The video below demonstrates how your iPhone 16 can quickly summarize emails’ content in the Apple Mail app. All the power of Apple Intelligence is just a tap away through the new “Summarize” button. This feature is quite useful if you have a lot of pending long emails. Gmail can also do this, thanks to its integration with Google’s Gemini models.

The third ad shows how Siri can now remind you of specific things that happened at some point. Thanks to Apple Intelligence, your iPhone 16 can remind you of the name of a person you met months ago under a certain context or location. It uses the power of artificial intelligence to quickly analyze your data or activity history in Apple apps.

Interestingly, Google recently made Gemini Live free, perhaps as a “direct attack” on Apple Intelligence prior to the arrival of the iPhone 16 series in stores. Live is an advanced conversational experience that takes Gemini to a new level. Previously, the assistant was able to understand requests in natural language. However, Gemini Live turns using the assistant into a conversational experience, as if you were talking to another person.
