After years of anticipation, Apple TV+ has officially begun construction on its new studios and office space in Culver City, as reported by Urbanize specialized website. Originally announced in July 2021, Apple had shared plans to establish a permanent home for its streaming service. Now, cranes have been spotted at the 888 Venice Boulevard site, marking the start of a project that will transform the area.
Located at the border of Culver City, the future campus will feature two state-of-the-art buildings spanning a combined 536,000 square feet. The plans, published in the L.A. Department of City Planning report, include a four-story and a five-story structure, both designed with terrace decks on the upper floors, offering a blend of modern office and production spaces. Beneath the campus, a parking garage with space for 1,200 vehicles will serve employees and visitors alike.
The development will also include a significant focus on green spaces. Around 58,000 square feet of open areas are planned, creating a park-like setting for the campus. This design integrates seamlessly with Apple’s existing 129,000-square-foot office at 8777 Washington Boulevard.
Apple’s vision for the new Culver City campus is ambitious, aiming to house over 3,000 employees by 2026. Shuttle bus drop-off points and multiple street-level entries have also been planned to make the campus accessible and connected. While the company is investing in expanding its physical presence, reports suggest that Apple TV+ is facing budget cuts as the service works to become more financially sustainable.
