One of the biggest problems plaguing the Apple Vision Pro, aside from its ludicrous price tag, was that its weight caused fatigue due to prolonged use. We can imagine that thousands of customers who undertook the decision to make the AR headset their daily driver would be livid that such an expensive contraption cannot be used for more than several minutes. Thankfully, it appears that this problem was already under consideration, because a rumor doing the rounds claims that the Apple Vision Air, which is said to be a lighter version of the head-mounted wearable features, will sport a titanium build to keep it from delivering the same encumbrance as the current, overly pricey device.
Tipster clarifies that the majority of the Apple Vision Air’s outside of the Apple will still be made of aluminum
Shortly after the official announcement of the Apple Vision Pro during the WWDC 2024 keynote, we talked about the Cupertino giant working on a less expensive model slated to launch this year. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, there will be a cheaper and lighter option, but there is a possibility that it ships with multiple compromises, including a plastic chassis, an inferior chassis, an A-series SoC instead of an M-series one, and more. There was no mention of whether this particular model would be referred to as the Apple Vision Air.
However, on X, tipster @Kosutami_Ito might have stumbled upon some valuable information that no one else has come across, and instead of plastic parts to keep the mass down, the Apple Vision Air could ship with titanium. Keep in mind that the majority of the exterior will still be made of aluminum; it is just a few internal places that will be replaced by titanium. The tipster also mentions that the headset will feature a connector and battery design revamp, along with a ‘graphite dark blue’ color that resembles the black iPhone 5 from years ago.
Our next friend in the Vision lineup is so thin, features titanium to reduce weight, including the connectors and the battery, and all comes with iPhone 5-era black- which looks like graphite dark blue. And be noted: this might not called as —Pro but you can Air it out.

The ‘Air’ moniker has always been used in products that carry a smaller price than the ‘Pro’ variants, suggesting that Apple’s next headset could ship with this official name. A lighter and cheaper headset could appeal to the masses, but even then, customers could end up paying a price similar to an expensive iPhone. Thankfully, it will be nowhere near as ludicrous as the $3,499 sum, and that too, for the base storage version of the Apple Vision Pro.
