Apple’s Plans To Enter Full-Scale Production Of Its Foldable iPhone Is Underway; Company Said To Be In The Final Stage Of Picking Suppliers, Potential Launch In H2 2026 – Wccftech

The foldable iPhone is still a long way from getting its official announcement, and on previous occasions, we were just stumbling across launch estimations instead of coming across a solid plan. Fortunately, the latest report mentions that Apple is in the middle of selecting suppliers to accompany it on its journey to mass produce the first foldable iPhone. The Cupertino firm will narrow down candidates which it believes will not compromise on the quality or quantity, with the device’s expected launch happening in the second half of 2026.

Samsung has reportedly been chosen for the foldable iPhone’s panels due to the company’s vast experience, with the display crease said to be eliminated

The report published by ETNews, with details spotted by tipster @Jukanlosreve, mentions that Apple would have finalized the suppliers for all the materials and components by April, suggesting full-scale production will be underway. Previously, we reported that one of the company’s apprehensions about not releasing a foldable iPhone was that all of its prototypes had visible creases. In the latest update, we learn that Samsung will be the OLED supplier, with the design of the smartphone said to be a ‘book style’ one instead of the clamshell form factor.

As for the glass cover, this part will most likely be provided by Corning, with Amphenol expected to deliver the hinges of the foldable iPhone. Apple has previously sourced MacBook hinges from the same company, but on this occasion, these parts will be for a completely different product. The report also mentions that one of the biggest differentiating qualities of the foldable iPhone will be the lack of display crease.

It appears that Apple wants to set itself apart from the competition, but even if these claims are true, we firmly believe that the crease will be visible when light is reflected on it. The mass production timeline of the foldable iPhone was not mentioned in the report, but assuming that Apple shortlists all the right suppliers, it can deliver a commercial product by 2026. While all of these developments sound exciting, it is important to treat this information with a pinch of salt, and as always, we will be back with more updates.
