Apple’s Vision Pro Launching a Cheaper Version, says Mark Gurman – techi.com

Apple enthusiasts turn to search engines asking, ‘Is Apple launching a cheaper version of Vision Pro?’ The Bloomberg leaks spread like wildfire, making the enthusiasts Google the prices, launch date, and features of the upcoming headset.

Although Apple has not given a final verdict on the ongoing rumours, Mark Gurman gave some insights.

According to Bloomberg, Apple has not abandoned its rumored plans to release a cheaper version of Vision Pro. Meanwhile, Mark Gurman reported that the company has two new models in development. He said that among the two under process models, one is lighter and cheaper than the first generation headset, while the other would tether to a Mac.

He further added that Apple was once considering Mac specifications for AR glasses, however, the company shifted the idea over to the Vision Pro to create an ultra-low-latency system for streaming a user’s Maz display or to connect with high-end enterprise applications.

Mark Gurman also made a big statement about Apple and Meta, competing with each other to win the Augmented Reality (AR) market. He reported that Apple’s CEO Tim Cook is

“hell-bent on creating an industry-leading product before Meta can.”

Recently, Meta announced that it will be launching the first consumer-based smart glasses, Hypernova, this year. These AR glasses are designed as an alternative to smartphones. The smart glasses may cost over $1000. Some versions may cost up to $13,000 to $14,000.  The product is expected to launch at the annual Meta Connect conference.

Mixed Reality Vision Pro

Notably, Apple’s Vision Pro is a mixed reality headset and not a pure AR. Although it offers a mixed reality experience by blending virtual content with a camera-captured representation of the user’s surroundings, it does not give true transparency like AR.
