It’s almost that time of year again. Music lovers are wondering when Spotify will release its annual Wrapped, the personalized recap of users’ listening habits and their year on the platform.
Spotify has been providing listeners with breakdowns of their data since 2015. Each year, it has become a bigger production—and an internet sensation. Spotify described its 2023 Wrapped as the “biggest ever created” in terms of audience reach and the depth of data it provided.
As the most-used streaming platform in the world, millions of users eagerly anticipate checking their top songs, playlists, guilty pleasures, and most-listened-to podcasts in a year where audio formats have taken center stage.
But what if I don’t use Spotify? As the streaming market has grown, other major platforms have developed their own versions of Wrapped in recent years.
Here are some platforms and websites that mimic Spotify’s Wrapped concept:
Apple Music
One year away from its 10th anniversary, Apple Music has become Spotify’s most significant competitor globally, with over 80 million subscribers worldwide.
To cater to its users, Apple developed its own review system, rolling out its “Replay” experience in 2019.
A new feature this year is “listening streaks,” which shows you the days you listened to music on the service the longest. Additionally, earlier this year, Apple launched a monthly version of Replay, allowing users to track their top songs, artists, albums, and more on a monthly basis.
You can check your “Replay” here.
YouTube Music
YouTube Music offers a similar end-of-year release for its listeners, along with periodic seasonal recaps throughout the year. Its annual Recap was released earlier this month.
The feature also highlights your longest listening streak and the total number of minutes you’ve listened over the year.
It also includes unique aspects like a timeline showing how music tastes evolved over the year and a personalized “album cover” generated from frequently listened-to tracks.
You can access the feature by tapping on the profile avatar and selecting “Your Recap.”
Deezer
Deezer, another popular music streaming app, provides a yearly roundup called “My Deezer Year.” This summary includes your top songs, genres, most-listened-to albums, and favorite artists.
Unique to Deezer, its feature allows users to choose between being “roasted” or “hyped up” based on their music preferences, offering a playful twist to the recap. Additionally, it includes a quiz that lets friends and family test how well they know your music taste.
You can check “Your Deezer Year” here.
When Does Spotify Wrapped 2024 Come Out?
So far, Spotify has kept the highly anticipated release date of Wrapped under… well, wraps.
The platform has not officially revealed the release date of the latest Wrapped, simply telling subscribers: “Your listening highlights, and more. Keep playing what you love, and we’ll get in touch when it’s ready.”
In previous years, Wrapped has been released after Thanksgiving, typically between November 30 and December 6.
While there is no official date for this year’s Wrapped, Newsweek has predicted a release date of December 5, based on previous years’ trends.
