A list of towns and cities selected to receive funds for upcoming alternative transportation includes the Town of Autaugaville and the City of Clanton in our area.
In Autaugaville, the town has been awarded $299,060 for sidewalks along Dutch Bend Street.
In Clanton, the city has been awarded $773,967 for a sidewalk extension on US 31 (7th Street)

Department of Transportation
Governor Kay Ivey and the Alabama Department of Transportation today announced the awarding of $21.6 million in funds for Transportation Alternatives Program projects statewide. These funds will be used to make various on-road and off-road improvements for pedestrians, bicyclists and other non-motorized forms of transportation.
“For a growing number of Alabamians who walk or use bicycles for health and recreation or to travel to work or school, the safety of their travel routes is an important concern,” Gov. Ivey said. “Therefore, I am pleased to join ALDOT in announcing this significant grant to build and enhance sidewalks and walking spaces in more than 30 communities, large and small, spanning the length of our state.”
The Transportation Alternatives Program is a federally funded program administered by ALDOT.
Various projects such as bike and pedestrian mobility, streetscaping and other non-traditional transportation improvements are eligible for TAP funds administered by ALDOT.
