Beloved car dealership to close three UK locations in huge move – and admits ‘this no longer meets our needs’

A BELOVED car dealership has announced it will close three of its sites as it relocates to a new “three-in-one” outlet.

The firm has been supplying Brits with models from iconic brands including Ferrari, Porsche and Mini for nearly six decades.

Dick Lovett was first established as a franchise in 1966, acting as one of the nation’s first Porsche representatives.

It is still a family business to this day, helmed by Peter Lovett (Dick’s son) who joined the company aged just 16.

Since then, it has established a network of showrooms across the South West and Wales, including a long-running partnership with Ferrari dating back to the ’70s.

Two of its biggest clients over the years, though, have been BMW and its subsidiary Mini.

And the firm has now announced significant plans for its BMW Group sites in Swindon, Wiltshire.

Currently, Dick Lovett operates separate showrooms for both brands in the town, as well as a repair shop specialising in BMW vehicles.

But all three of these are set to shut down under a radical relocation plan.

The trio will be incorporated into a massive new site around 15 miles out of town.

A “state-of-the-art” replacement facility will boast a vast dual showroom showing off models from both manufacturers.

This will be coupled with an in-house Bodyshop, allowing drivers to readily access maintenance and repair work.

The new outlet will be based just off the M4 at J19, with bosses hoping to attract more customers from surrounding areas and provide easy access, as well as higher capacity.

This will also mean buyers are just a short distance from the franchise’s existing Porsche and Ferrari dealerships at J16.

And, in a sustainability push, the site will feature new landscaping, “green roofs” and solar panels, which will feed 18 EV charging points.

A Dick Lovett spokesperson said: “The new venue will be purpose-built, integrating a modern car dealership with a cutting-edge Bodyshop, ensuring a superior experience for every visitor.

“The state-of-the-art facility has been designed with both customers and staff in mind, offering an environment that prioritises comfort, convenience, and efficiency.

“Every aspect of the new space has been tailored to provide the highest standards of service and support.

“By combining the MINI and BMW showrooms and Bodyshop on one site customers won’t need to drive around multiple locations in Swindon if they are shopping around and can instead shop for a range of models in one location.”
