Bizarre crash on busy roundabout sparks debate as some viewers say BOTH drivers are in the wrong – where do you stand?

THIS is the bizarre moment two cars crash on a busy roundabout – and it’s sparked a lively debate with some say both drivers are at fault.

A large black saloon and a small white hatchback crash side-on as they try to navigate the roundabout near a bridge in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

Footage of the incident was filmed by motorist David Blandy and the video has triggered a fierce online debate.

The film was captioned: “Collision on the Viaduct Bridge, Sheffield. Black car or white car to blame?”

Commentators have focused on the issue of lane discipline, with the arguments raging over who should have remained in their lane.

On one side, some of suggested the white Mazda 2 on the left was in the lane for the first exit on the roundabout and moved into the path of the Audi.

Others though think it was the Audi driver who changed lanes, causing the accident.

As the video begins, the white Mazda is seen driving in the left lane with the black Audi A4 a few metres ahead in the centre lane.

Both lanes allow vehicles to go straight ahead.

However, as the two vehicles enter the roundabout, the white Mazda begins to overtake the Audi as they pass the first exit and they collide side-on.

Paul Milgate wrote: “How is that Audi’s fault. White car changed lane surely.”

Helen Bason said: “White car can go left or straight ahead which is what it was doing, black car was obviously attempting to change lanes.”

Drivers slam ‘Britain’s worst parking’ after cars abandoned on busy roundabout – and say it’s a ‘miracle no one died’

Rich Atkin commented: “I read white car’s fault with that, he has no straight on.”

Kevin Spike Toms said: “My opinion for what it’s worth, white car at fault.

“The black has the lane lines the same distance from his near side continuously until impact.”

Jamie Scott wrote: “Watched it a few times and both look like in wrong lanes.”

It’s not the first time a lively online debate has erupted over which driver was at fault for an accident.

Earlier this month, an incident, which apparently happened in Avonmouth, Bristol, shows the dashcam view of a car being wiped out by a lorry turning into a road.

The footage begins with the driver pulling up behind a red BMW hatchback that’s stopped and is ready to turn left at a junction.

However, as the BMW indicates, a lorry turning into the road appears to take the bend at a bad angle and at too much speed.

In doing so, its trailer smashes into the small BMW as it swings around – even causing it to smash back into the car behind it that’s recording.

Also earlier this month, a cyclist was sent into road rage after he was knocked off his bike when he crashed into a car.

The dramatic footage sparked an online debate about who was in the wrong in the clash.

The confrontation prompted a debate between social media commenters after the video was posted to X, with the user asking: “Who’s in the wrong here?”
