Denza, the premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand from (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), has begun mass production of its new model, the Denza N9, with the SUV (sport utility vehicle) not far away from launch.

Denza announced on Weibo today that the first production cars of the Denza N9 have officially rolled off the production line, and the model is packed with technologies for intelligence and safety.

The Denza N9 redefines a new standard of mobility for large flagship SUVs, it said.

The model is gradually being dispatched to Denza showrooms in China recently, the brand’s head of sales, Zhao Changjiang, said on Weibo today.

Denza’s current models on sale include the N7 SUV, Z9 sedan, Z9GT hatchback and D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle).

It started previewing the N9 in October 2024, and Zhao said at the time that the new SUV will be powered by BYD’s e3 technology.

The e3 technology can be seen as a scaled-down version of BYD’s e4 technology built for ultra-luxury cars, bringing tri-motor independent drive with dual-motor independent steering at the rear wheels. The Z9GT, which was launched on September 20 last year, is the first model to feature the e3 technology.

In an open letter on January 1, Zhao said that the Denza N9 would be launched in the first quarter and that the brand would also launch a new MPV in 2025 that’s bigger and more powerful than the D9 MPV.

The Denza N9 is a six-seat hybrid with length, width and height of 5,258 mm, 2,030 mm and 1,830 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 3,125 mm, a previous regulatory filing showed.

The model is powered by three electric motors, with the front motor having a peak power of 200 kW and the two motors at the back both having 240 kW.

It has an engine with a displacement of 1,995 ml and 152 kW.

Denza delivered 11,720 vehicles in January, up 29.25 percent from 9,068 in the same month last year, although down 22.17 percent from 15,059 in December, according to figures it announced earlier this month.

The brand delivered 126,035 vehicles in 2024, down 1.41 percent from 127,840 in 2023, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

Denza is targeting sales of more than 300,000 units in 2025, local media outlet AutoPix said in a January 14 story citing people familiar with the matter.
