ALBANY, N.Y. — The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) recently appointed its new Chief Executive Officer.
At the most recent CDTA board meeting, a unanimous vote named Frank Annicaro as the new CEO. Annicaro begins his new role on May 12, taking over from interim CEO Michael Collins, who has held the position since Jan. 1 following the retirement of former CEO Carm Basile.
“The Board of Directors is proud to appoint Frank Annicaro as the CEO of CDTA after a thorough search process,” CDTA Board Chairman Jayme Lahut said in a news release. “Annicaro’s extensive experience in the transit industry and forward-thinking leadership style will bring many benefits to not only the Authority but to the entire Capital Region Community.
“We are looking forward to working with Frank and keeping the region moving forward.”
Annicaro most recently served as Senior Vice President of the New York City Transit Department of Buses for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). His division provided 55,000 daily passenger trips for more than 2 million passengers, and his team oversaw more than 18,000 employees. Prior to that, Annicaro was Acting Vice President and Chief Maintenance Officer at MTA.

“I am excited to join the CDTA family and lead an organization that plays a vital role in the Capital Region community,” Annicaro said in the release. “With more than 30 years of experience in transportation and leadership, I’m ready to bring my vision for transit to the area. I have led several operational improvement projects in the country’s biggest transit system, and I am looking forward to bringing my knowledge to the CDTA system.
“I want to thank the Board of Directors for putting their trust in me to lead this great organization into its next chapter.”
