A CAR dealership group that sells one of the nation’s favourite little motors is set to demolish a showroom as part of a bold new plan.

But that doesn’t spell the end of Mini sales in the area, as the much-loved car brand is set to move into the BMW dealership that’s situated just next door.

Bosses, who claim the move will improve car parking for customers, said in a statement: “The Mini showroom currently is on two levels with steps and wheelchair lift allowing access to the upper level.

“The back of house area of the building is used for valeting and storing vehicles.

“The new BMW corporate identity allows for Mini to be incorporated into the BMW showroom space, creating an easier customer journey on site with all products being in one space.

“Additionally, the existing BMW showroom is all on one ground floor level, therefore being more accessible to all customers and staff.”

Marshall Motor Group added that they plan for the new car wash and valet service to be placed at the rear of the site.

They said: “With this separation of workshop and sales, it allows for the noise disruption of the sales site to be minimised in an area of mainly residential properties.

“Overall, this proposed work will provide Marshall Motor Group with an improved site facility for their customers.”

Best of all, no staff will be losing their jobs as a result of the change.

Marshall Motor Group was founded in 1909 and is the seventh largest motor retail group in the UK.

“Classier inside and out, with a less is more approach, and that dinner plate-sized touchscreen carries the same cutting-edge tech as a £100k BMW.

“Mega fun to drive, as it always has been.”

This comes as a classic car that once rivalled the original Mini is poised for a dramatic comeback – some 35 years after it was discontinued.

According to reports, the Citroen 2CV is set to make a comeback with a retro-inspired look that could see it go toe-to-toe with the new Renault 5.

The 2CV once earned its stripes as a French economy car and is recognised for revitalising post-war France.
