Car Running From Police Goes Over Cliff, Crashing On California Beach

People in Carlsbad, California were shocked to see a mangled car on a beach after it tumbled down a cliff after a police chase. The driver survived the ordeal with serious injuries, which is a miracle, yet intoxication isn’t believed to be a factor in this bizarre case.

Lamborghini Huracan burned to a crisp after crashing in rally.

Even stranger, NBC San Diego reports the pursuit began when a police officer observed the suspect vehicle hit a fence right by the police station, at a city government building. When the officer tried pulling the car over, the suspect took off.

While Carlsbad Police Department gave chase, eventually the pursuit was called off for safety reasons. In less than half a mile, the suspect drove off the side of the road, tumbling down the cliff, landing on the beach.

One witness told NBC San Diego the crash sound like a huge explosion. Looking at the mangled wreckage, that’s not surprising. We could try guessing what make and model the vehicle is, but it’s a little difficult to tell thanks to all the deformation in the body.

There are a lot of questions lingering from this incident. Among them is a big one: if police call off a chase for safety reasons and the suspect still crashes, will activists blame them for it? We know the answer is in the affirmative, but people are still going to argue if calling off the pursuit helped at all.

The other big question is why did this person crash the car, then run from police. Intoxication would’ve been a simple answer, but that apparently isn’t what investigators believe is behind the motivation. At least in this case nobody else was injured, because it could’ve ended differently.
