Carjackers Mock California Cops

It’s a bad sign when young carjackers mock police while leading them on a chase. That’s exactly what happened in Los Angeles County, California as a news helicopter captured the unbelievable scene for viewers.

Escalade driver crosses the wrong state trooper.

We’ve included that footage, which shows what appears to be a teenager hanging out a car window as his buddy drives down the highway. The driver’s side front tire is blown and coming off the rim, so the vehicle slows down, yet the one kid hangs out the passenger window to throw gang signs, take selfies, and mock California Highway Patrol officers chasing them.

It’s almost like these kids have zero fear of CHP or any other law enforcement agencies in the area.

Once the driver stops the car, both suspects pile out of the front passenger door and take off on foot through the underbrush on the side of the highway, CHP officers in hot pursuit.

They left the car in drive so it rolled away, creating a distraction. Still, officers were able to chase down both teens and arrest them. But if these kids have been taken into custody before, and we imagine they have, they’re aware there’s a revolving door in the justice system in Los Angeles County, especially since they’re minors.

In other words, with a lack of real consequences for committing crimes like this, criminals stop fearing getting caught by police. Leading law enforcement on chases becomes something more of a fun game.

We don’t often see this kind of behavior in Arkansas, Georgia, or Florida. What could possibly be the difference?

It’s really too bad because those CHP officers put themselves in harm’s way to capture violent offenders, then they have to chase down and capture the same ones later. We can’t imagine how frustrating that must be.
