A recent report from Korea suggested that a cheaper Samsung Galaxy Z Flip foldable is coming next year. Well, a trusted source basically just confirmed that information. The news comes from Ross Young, a well-known display analyst.
A cheaper Galaxy Z Flip foldable seems to be coming next year
He went to X to confirm the news. Mr. Young said the following: “Those hoping for a Z Flip 7 FE should be excited. It looks like a Samsung FE clamshell is finally coming in 2025”. When he shares something like that, he’s usually spot on, so we have no reason to doubt this info.
This rumor has been around for a long time at this point. Before, however, rumors were coming from unproven sources. This time around, it seems like it’s really happening. We could get a budget clamshell foldable from Samsung.
Yes, its name could be the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, but that’s just a guess at this point, a placeholder name if you wish. Nothing has been confirmed in that regard just yet. Samsung could opt for a different name entirely.
That budget phone could end up using the same display as the Galaxy Z Flip 7
That phone could end up using the same display as the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Where Samsung could cut costs, however, is the camera department, and the SoC department. Those are usually the two areas where it happens.
If you were hoping for a cheaper version of the Galaxy Z Fold too, well, that’s not happening, at least not anytime soon. It was recently reported that Samsung has no such plans.
If I had to guess, I’d say that this budget clamshell foldable will still include two main cameras. Those two cameras likely won’t be the same as the one the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will offer. It’s about time Samsung improves those cameras, which means that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE could end up using the Galaxy Z Flip 6 cameras.
