Chrysler has officially announced the launch of an electric version of the Pacifica, one of the most famous minivans on the American market. The announcement was made by CEO Christine Feuell in an interview for Green Car Reports during the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show. Exact debut dates or specs have yet to be revealed, but key hints about the future are already out there.
What is known about the electric Pacifica?
We chose the 2017 Chrysler Portal Concept 2017 to illustrate this news (header image). However, Fewell has hinted that a future EV version of the Pacifica will draw inspiration from the more recent Halcyon concept (two images below), which was unveiled in February 2024. The Halcyon is a large sedan based on the STLA Large platform, designed to showcase the “future Chrysler”.
When to expect the premiere?
So far, there are many questions and few answers. Chrysler plans to release its first electric vehicle (a crossover on the STLA Large platform) in 2025. Meanwhile, the Pacifica EV probably won’t debut until 2026 or 2027 at the earliest, as the current version of the model is due for a refresh in 2026. However, Stellantis’ global financial problems could affect the timeline. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares previously even suggested that the car corporation may get rid of brands that are performing poorly over the next two to three years. That said, Chrysler is not among Stellantis’ most profitable assets.
