Circular might not be the most prominent name when it comes to smart rings, but they’re not backing down from the big player that’s entered the room.
At CES 2025, Circular has just unveiled the new Circular Ring 2. It brings improvements to the company’s previous formula, including one killer feature and a sizing system that—if it works as intended—should make buying the right size a whole lot easier than it has ever been.
The Circular Ring 2 Brings ECG to Your Finger, with an FDA-Approved Algorithm
Circular has wasted no time getting into the groove of 2025, starting the year off with the launch of its Ring 2 at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. I don’t expect this to be the only smart ring shown at the event this year, and far from the only smart wearable that we’re going to see.
Smart rings aren’t too complicated from a consumer perspective. With no screen, most of the value that they have is in collecting health data such as your heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, and sleep metrics. Well, if you wished that your smart ring could collect a bit more information for you, you’re going to like that the Circular Ring 2 fits an ECG sensor into its diminutive build, letting you track an entirely new dimension of cardiac health.
The new Circular Ring comes with an atrial fibrillation (AFib) detection algorithm that has been approved by the FDA, which is a major win. With eight days’ worth of battery life, you can wear the ring for a week straight, so you can trust it to help you catch any adverse cardiac events that might happen.
The Circular Ring 2 Isn’t Available Yet But Will Be Soon
The newest smart ring from Circular isn’t available right away, but fortunately, you’re not going to need to wait too long for it to hit the shelves. It’s been confirmed that you can expect to see it in either February or March, and it’ll come with a price tag of $380. That’s not the most competitive price, considering the Galaxy Ring costs just $20 more.
The Circular Ring 2 will be available in Black, Gold, Rose Gold, and Silver colorways, and regardless of the colorway, the metal exterior of the device is made of titanium.
Circular Hopes to Turn the Ring-Sizing Process Digital
Before you buy a smart ring, you need to get your finger sized so you can figure out the perfect size for you. The typical way to get this done is with plastic dummy rings that you wear throughout the day. That method works, but it means that getting your smart ring takes longer since you have to get the sizing kit first.
Circular wants to fix that. It has introduced a Digital Ring Sizing function that can be used from a smartphone. The company didn’t mention much about how it works, but we can all guess that it uses your camera, AR, and probably AI to determine what the best size for you is. If it works perfectly, it’ll make the buying experience a lot better.
